Join us on this 2 day course and learn about the principles of textile design techniques. Through a series of presentations and short practical exercises you will learn about the properties and construction of fabrics, and explore a range of design production techniques. Your tutor will introduce you to a variety of design processes from colour usage, repeat patterning to hand and digital printing techniques. You will also have the opportunity to look at the many possibilities of designing with weave, knit and stitch. During the workshop you will make a simple loom to create your own hand woven fabric samples.

Course Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of the different constructions and properties of fabrics and print techniques used within the textiles, fashion and interior design industries. This will give you the confidence to communicate with trade. The textile techniques learnt may also be tailored to your own practice, giving it a bespoke touch.

Tutor information

Mandeep Mann is an Interior Design and Textile Consultant born and educated in the UK. She has a specialised background in Textile Design with a Master's Degree from the world-renowned Royal College of Art (London), and a First Class Honours Degree from the prestigious Chelsea College of Art (London). She has a unique eye for interiors, having come from a textiles background, possessing a creative & innovative flair for colour, textures and materials. Mandeep has worked as a textile designer and won numerous awards for her work, including an award from Christopher Bailey (MBE Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer of Burberry). She continues to work on her own textile design practice, selling bespoke pieces to private clients. Her clients include the Spanish fashion label Desigual. She joined the Aedas team, one of the world’s leading global architecture and design practices, where she provides interior design solutions from concept design phase through to detail design and construction. She has worked on various large-scale hospitality and residential projects across the United Arab Emirates.
