Screen Printing Supplies London

East London Printmakers holds four Open Access sessions each week, on Thursdays and Saturdays. We welcome artists who are familiar and competent in the printmaking process that they wish to do. We have professional facilities for etching, silkscreen, fabric printing, relief and monoprinting processes.

Who can use open access?

Anyone with enough experience to work independently in the studio. We are unable to provide technical assistance during Open Access sessions so if you are unable to work independently we may be able to suggest a suitable class, but you will not be able to attend Open Access sessions until you have reached a suitable standard of proficiency. You do not need to be a member of ELP to use open access. Unfortunately at present we cannot allow under-18s to use the facilities.

Materials to bring

The studio sells a limited range of materials, such as metals, inks and paper, and we have some supplies available for hire, such as screens for printing on paper and fabric. For a more detailed list of what we supply and sell, please refer to the following page.

Induction

Inductions take place at the beginning of your first open access session. If you have booked an induction, please arrive promptly at the beginning of the session you have booked. Please bring at least 3 prints that you have created in the last 18 months in order to demonstrate your proficiency and ability to work independently.

First time users

Your first session will start with an induction, which includes an introduction to the studio’s equipment and Health and Safety. Even if you have been to the workshop before, or attended a course, you will still need to complete an induction. Assistants will also need to complete an induction and purchase an open access session.

Inductions take place at the beginning of each session. If you have booked an induction, please arrive promptly at the beginning of the session you have booked. Please bring at least three prints that you have created in the last 18 months in order to demonstrate your proficiency and ability to work independently. The induction takes about an hour and you will then be free to print for the rest of the session. Please bring any materials you will need to the session.

Using the studio: Keyholders

At present, there are forty two keyholders at ELP.

Keyholders pay a monthly fee of £85 and have 24-hour access to the studio outside of open access and workshop times.
